Michael Ruttkamp : Bio : Home

Michael first got behind the wheel of a race car on the dirt track at Mid-Hudson Speedway in N.Y. when he was a mere 7 years old. At 10, Michael raced as both a micro sprint car pilot and kart driver, winning an unmatched two World Karting Association Championships. These championships were won on the WKA Speedway Oval Track and the WKA Gold Cup Road Coarse Track.

After a successful run in sprint cars, he moved up to driving stock cars in 2001, where all of his talents came into play. Those skills put Michael in the forefront of the local stock car scene, evident in his three feature wins, eight qualifying heat wins and 2002 Rookie of the Year honors at Mountain Speedway in Pocono, PA.

Michael got his big break in 2003 when he was allowed to compete in the 2003 United Speed Alliance Racing (USAR) Hooters Pro Cup Series. At 15 years old, he was the youngest driver ever allowed to compete in this very challenging series. Michael also obtained approval to run in the American Speed Association (ASA) short track stock car series, also at the age of 15.
